What exactly is a haunting?

This information can help clients and investigators alike.
There are four types of hauntings you may encounter.
We’ll cover them here.

Intelligent

An intelligent haunting is the haunting of a once living person complete with a personality, conscience, purpose, and reasoning.

You can communicate and interact with these spirits. Intelligent spirits can interact with objects, usually small items such as pens/pencils, light switches, glasses/cups, picture frames, etc.

These spirits can be removed by engaging with communication or with the assistance of a psychic or medium. CAPA highly suggests avoiding psychics and mediums who charge!

Residual

A residual haunting is the residual energy of a traumatic event trapped in a location. These events occur whether or not anyone is present and occur on either a certain day or time of day.

These hauntings are in locations an event occurs or if an item such as an antique is brought into a location tied to such an event.

In these events, the entity will not acknowledge you or its surroundings. An example being, if you move a doorway from one area to another area, the entity will not acknowledge this change. It will continue the same path it always has.

You may hear sounds of something moving such as furniture, but nothing will actually move.

These hauntings are sometimes tied to an item and can be removed with the removal of said item.

Poltergeist

These hauntings are caused by subconscious human manipulation. The subject causes these happenings without even knowing they’re doing it.

These events only happen when one individual, known as the Catalyst, is present. This is the person manifesting the energy subconsciously.

The events are sporadic, can be intense for a time then not happen for weeks on end.

Counseling with the Catalyst is the best option for removal.

(Seems a lot less intense than the films, huh?)

Inhuman/Demonic

These hauntings are caused by an entity that was never human. An inhuman haunting doesn’t necessarily mean it’s demonic or even negative. An inhuman entity could possibly refer to positive energy that many describe as angels.

An inhuman haunting can possibly be negative or demonic. These cases are very rare, in fact, mostly 3% or less demonic cases are mistaken identity or just a mischievous spirit disguising itself as demonic. Removing a true demonic entity can be done with religious provocation of any kind.

A third form of inhuman haunting is more indifferent entity such as elementals or fairies. These entities usually do their own thing. Usually, if someone has any run-ins with these entities it’s because they want your behavior to change. It’s best to wait these out.
